Punjab govt providing quality items on cheaper rates: Saira.

HAFIZABAD — The Punjab Government is providing Rs. 900 million
subsidy for the provision of cheap and quality commodities to the
fasting people at 319 Ramazan Bazars in the province and it was
imperative for the administration to ensure the availability of
essential commodities at cheaper rates to get the blessings of the
Almighty Allah and prayers of the believers, Minster of State for
National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Saira Afzal
Tarar said here.

While inspecting the arrangements made by the administration at the
Sasta Ramazan bazar here today, she checked the quality of different
consumer items particularly mutton, dates, fruits and pulses. She said
that the government decision to establish Ramazan bazaars is
people-friendly and directed the local administration to play their role
for the availability of quality material at rates lower than those
prevalent in the open market.

Meanwhile, Arbitration Centre will be started functioning in the
Sessions Courts Hafizabad from June 1, Senior Civil Judge (Admn) Aamir
Shahzad said here today. He said that there are 1700 judges in the
province while 12 lakh cases are lying pending for adjudication and it
was difficult for the courts to decide the cases promptly.

Keeping in view the prolonged litigations between the parties it has
been decided by the Chief Justice Lahore High Court Syed Mansoor Ali
Shah to set up arbitration centres to provide cheap justice as well as
to prevent delay in the decision of ordinary cases. He further said that
arbitration of such cases would be decided between 30 to 45 days. He
further said that it would be endeavour of the centre to reconciliate
between the spouses in the divorce cases. After the decision of the
centre no appeal could be filed in the court.

Girl abducted: A young girl of Kalianwala was abducted by four
fiendish youngman including a woman of the same village. The police have
registered a case against Waqas son of Muhammad Yousaf, Shirin Bibi and
two others and have arrested Waqas. The police are raiding different
places to recover the girl and to arrest the accused.

According to FIR lodged by Ashiq son of Faqir Muhammad, four accused
including a woman raided his house and forcibly abducted his young
daughter Asima.

Highway division employees protested against non-payment of
salaries: The employees of Highway Division Hafizabad have protested
against non-payment of their salaries for the past three months. Led by
APCA Chairman Nasrullah Hunjra the employees took out a rally and staged
sit-in demonstration in front of the office and called upon the
authorities to take pity on them and arrange for early payment of their

Meanwhile, the contractual sanitary workers of Municipal Committee
Hafizabad also took out a rally for not increasing their wages. Led by
CBA Chairman Ishaq Khokhar and others they staged sit-in demonstration
in Fawara Chowk where they chanted slogans against the authorities
calling upon them to increase their wages.
